UNITY HEALTH CARE (UNITY) IS AWARDED $12 MILLION THROUGH THE RECOVERY ACT TO BUILD AND RENOVATE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS IN WARDS 1 AND 8

Washington, DC – December 9, 2009, Vincent A. Keane, President/CEO of Unity Health Care, Incorporated (Unity) attended President Barack Obama’s televised press conference held in the
South Court Auditorium on the grounds of the White House. The President announced $600 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) funding, which has been
awarded to support major construction and renovation projects at 85 community health centers nationwide. Unity was one of the 85 awardees, receiving $12 million through the Recovery Act. “Studies show that people living near a health center are less likely to go to the emergency room and less likely to have unmet critical medical needs. CHC are proven to reduce ethnic and racial disparities in care. And the medical expenses of regular CHCs patients are
nearly 25 percent lower than those folks who get their care elsewhere – 25 percent lower,” President Obama stated.

UNITY HEALTH CARE (UNITY) HAS SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS

Washington, DC –Tuesday, December 1, 2009, Unity Health Care (Unity) successfully implemented Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This massive undertaking is expected to gain overall efficiencies in Unity’s clinical and business practices. This will allow Unity to serve more patients, as well as improve patient tracking and follow‐up and overall data collection and patient outcome information. The EMR operates within all of Unity’s community health centers
and will help patients to be seen more efficiently, because providers will have access to their records regardless of which Unity health center they receive services. This will also help with patient referrals to specialists creating a seamless system of information sharing and a higher level of patient care.

of its new Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. Unity has begun implementing an EHR System as well as a Practice Management (PM) system, which will enhance the capacity of collecting, monitoring, and the usage of data for quality improvement across its network of centers and services.

Grant Award Will Help To Create A “State Of The Art” Health Center in Northwest Washington

WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, June 29, 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama visited Unity Health Care’s Upper Cardozo Center (“The Center”) to announce the Obama Administration’s support for the renovation and modernization of “The Center.” This funding provided through the American Recovery and Re-Investment Act (ARRA) also known as the “Recovery Act” is part of a National initiative to invest in Community Health Centers (CHC) as a critical access point for serving the uninsured. Stimulus funding through the “Recovery Act” allocates $851 million nationwide to construct or renovate CHCs in Urban and Rural Areas.

UNITY HEALTH CARE EXPANDS DENTAL CARE FOR D.C. HOMELESS THROUGH A GENEROUS GRANT FROM CAREFIRST BLUECROSS BLUESHIELD

Washington DC (July 23, 2008) – Unity Health Care (Unity) will open a fully-comprehensive dental suite within its health center located at the Federal City Homeless Assistance Center. The facility will be one of the first of its kind in the nation, providing the District’s homeless with comprehensive Oral Health services. As with all Unity Health Care services, dental care will be available regardless of patients’ ability to pay, in part, thanks to a generous grant of $79,586 to the Unity Health Care Foundation from CareFirst BlueCross Blue Shield (CareFirst).
