Dianna Lapp

Diana Lapp, MD

Medical Degree:  Howard University College of Medicine
Residency training:  West Suburban Family Practice Residency

Special Interests:  Correctional Medicine

As a Unity Health Care staff member since 2001, Dr. Lapp currently serves as the Medical Director of Correctional Medicine and Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Unity Health Care.  Within this context, Dr. Lapp is responsible for the oversight of comprehensive health services at the Central Detention Facility and Correctional Treatment Facility which house approximately 3000 inmates.

Prior to her work with Unity Health Care, Dr. Lapp was an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Portsmouth, Virginia where she provided patient care and trained residents at a community based residency program.

In 1990 as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, she counseled, arranged training, medical, mental health, and other services for the disabled to be discharged from Veterans Administration Hospital.

From 1988 – 1990, Dr. Lapp served as an Agricultural Extension Agent for the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone where she independently guided farmers toward local food production, improved literacy through tutoring, and conducted workshops.

Dr. Lapp speaks West African Krio and is an advocate for difficult to reach and marginalized populations and continues to be committed to the care and support of the most vulnerable communities in our nation’s capital.
